Recollections: 12 Vignettes from Lashihai is a collaborative work by Viccy Adams and Samantha Silver that collects photography and short pieces of writing from the authors’ visit to Lashihai in China. Shortlisted for the New Media Writing Prize, it’s a gorgeous looking work that allows the images and typography plenty of space, especially on a larger screen. Publishing Recollections as a web app has enabled the design to use gallery-style navigation, though it comes at the expense of a few small details like smooth text scrolling.
Created by the Folger Shakespeare Library and a host of British institutions, Shakespeare Documented is an online exhibition of original documents related to the Bard from his lifetime: manuscripts, letters, first-edition published works, even deeds and other official records. While undoubtedly a valuable resource for scholars, it’s also a fascinating general exhibit of beautiful and rare objects.
